Our History
We have our own orchid nursery in Thailand, established in October 1990 under the trading name of 'Mae Tang Orchids'. It is situated just outside the small market town of Mae Tang, 40 km north of Chiang Mai - which is the principal city of Northern Thailand.
The nursery in Thailand is owned by Peter Williams. Peter has been growing and studying South East Asian orchid species for over twenty five years and makes regular field trips to observe orchids growing in their natural habitats. He utilizes the information gained from these trips to help him cultivate orchid species under artificially controlled conditions at his nursery.

We have an extensive collection of Asian orchid species, which are used for propagation purposes. Seeds are sent to Bangkok for flasking and the resulting seedlings are then deflasked at the nursery and grown on to flowering size. Having been established in Thailand since 1990 we have also built up many useful contacts with other nurseries, enabling us to obtain plants that we do not grow ourselves at a very good price. Being able to visit the nurseries concerned and choose the plants required ourselves ensures we can supply a good range of top quality plants at sensible prices.
Peter returns to the UK twice a year and now spends about four months a year there, promoting orchid sales and dealing with client’s enquiries. Each time he returns to the UK he brings back a consignment of orchid plants with him and holds them in greenhouses at his UK address. From there they are offered for sale by mail order, at selected orchid shows, and at specialised talks given to orchid societies.
